Bio

R. B. Young grew up in Guelph, Ontario, and studied at York University, Toronto, and the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver. He has worked as an architect, urban planner, sometime web designer, and occasional painter (the fine-art kind).

His short story "Paper Icon" appears in the book Polish(ed): Poland Rooted in Canadian Fiction, published by Guernica Editions in 2017.

Young's short fiction has appeared in the literary journals Great Lakes ReviewPostscripts to Darkness, and Other Voices. He resides in Kingston, Ontario, with his wife. When not writing, he follows his passions for music and painting.

On CBC Radio One in 2012, literature professor Aalya Ahmad, co-editor of the horror anthology Postscripts to Darkness 2, praised Young for his innovative writing:
"We did look for writing that touched on maybe a new theme or a new idea, or re-framed a story in a new way. For example ... 'Old Softie,' by R.B. Young, involves a Facebook ghost. And so we thought, 'How interesting is that.' There's not been a lot of stories ... about how horrific Facebook might be."
